In 2009, Jim was already a Certified Personal Trainer designated as a Master Trainer by the National Federation of Professional Trainers. He had taught personal trainer certification courses, but he had a long history of muscle pulls and strains and knew nothing about myofascial release. Then he tore a muscle in his calf, and he was lucky enough to be introduced to myofascial release. He thought he would be on crutches for 6 months, but diligently working on doing releases as guided by some in-house experts had him running again in two weeks. He was hooked. “I need to know all there is to know about myofascial release!” he decided.

He enrolled in the National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist program, and a few months later a new client told him she had chronic back pain that no one else (chiropropractor, medical doctor, accupuncturist, etc.) had been able to resolve. Using myofascial release, he had her out of pain in an hour. With great enthusiasm, she began to proclaim to her friends that “Jim Frith can fix anything!” Obviously, he would never had made such a claim, but suddenly he was being approached by numerous prospective new clients who had pains no one else had been able to resolve for them.

He was lucky enough to be able to help almost all of the people who approached him, and his immersion into myofascial release deepened. He continued his studies in earnest and accumulated a number of certifications as he logged many thousands of hours doing deep and specific myofascial release to resolve muscle imbalances, movement impairments and chronic pains.

Jim’s passion is to help people to have better, healthier, more pain-free lives. Massage is the biggest part of that, but he continues to train fitness clients, and he is author of End the Yo-Yo; the EAMAYW® System, a lifestyle modification guide integrating nutrition, exercise, and personal behavior changes for lifetime habits optimizing health and fitness.
